George Washington University Monroe Hall / Hall of Governors
This four-story building opened for classes in Spring 1952, and cost $600,000 to build. It was named for the fifth President of the United States. President Monroe was instrumental in the founding of the University; he signed the act of incorporation February 9, 1821 and participated in its first commencement in 1824. Monroe Hall was built by Charles H. Tompkins Company, and is of functional design, constructed of reinforced concrete faced with Indiana limestone. The entrance is faced with contrasting imperial granite imported from Sweden. The buildings large windows ensure an even distribution of light.
TDR is working with the Smith Group (architects) and University to renovate the building and numerous classrooms. We are excited and accept the challenges presented us throughout this renovation technology design process. We are proud to be a part of the classroom design experience, providing privileged access to academic data resources.
Helping to make the educational experience stimulating and visual.
