Smithsonian NMAI Board Room

NMAI Board Room renovation project

The museum’s galleries and display spaces house both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The museum’s permanent exhibitions, Our Universes, Our Peoples, and Our Lives, represent important ideas and experiences in Native life and history. Temporary exhibitions will present individual artists’ works, explore specific themes in Indian culture, or bring objects from other institutions to the museum. The museum’s galleries also include cases containing study collections and outstanding objects from the museum's collections.

TDR is assessing the audio visual capabilities and re-designing of the Director's Board room.  TDR is investigating solutions in improving the functionality and overall design deficiencies being experienced currently.

TDR will be performing a complete acoustical analysis of the space outlining all findings in a "report of findings document".

TDR investigated each of the following parameters:

Description of Problems, Site Observations, Acoustical Design Criteria, Acoustical Measurements and Results, Sound Isolation Measurements, Reverberation Time Measurements, Potential Acoustical Modifications, HVAC System Modifications, Sound Isolation Modifications Room, Acoustic Modifications, Conclusions.

TDR will be providing NMAI with two reports both an audio visual finding document and an acoustical findings document.  Each document will contain recommendations, solutions and budgets.
